From Bottle to Box: Frank's Guide to Gift-Worthy Packaging

June 3, 2026

Ever shown up to a dinner party clutching a wine bottle like it's a relay baton?
Frank has a better idea.

In our latest video from the Customer Experience Center, Frank walks you through the creation of a custom champagne box, crafted right on the Kongsberg C64 cutting table. The goal: turn a simple bottle of wine or champagne into a gift that actually looks like a gift.

The Box

The design features a clean exterior and an internal separator to cradle the bottle securely, no rattling, no regrets. The whole thing is cut from double E-flute corrugated board, which strikes the right balance between lightweight and sturdy.

As Frank puts it: "Don't just arrive with the bottle in your hand. Make a nice package like this."

The Process

Frank breaks down the production workflow step by step:

  • Creasing is handled by a Dual Heavy-Duty Tool Unit fitted with a 150 mm crease wheel (six-point profile).
  • Cutting uses the CorruSpeed Tool, purpose-built for corrugated cardboard.
  • A stainless steel cup on the underside pre-crushes the material, prepping it for clean folds.

The structural design is imported into the IPC software, with creasing and cutting on separate layers. The table runs in reverse operation, scanning the sheet edges first, then flipping to finish from the inside out.

The Result

A box worth keeping long after the champagne is gone. Souvenir-worthy, even.
