Founded in 1982, Ten Herkel is a Dutch printing company that has grown from a traditional offset and letterpress operation into a full-service digital print and signage producer. Based in the Netherlands, the company expanded into large-format printing and sign production in 2020, investing in a flatbed printer alongside a table cutting solution, and has steadily built out its capabilities in that segment ever since.

Recognising the Need for Growth
As Ten Herkel's signage operation grew, it became clear that their existing cutting solution was a bottleneck. The machine they had, a well-known brand in the Dutch market, simply could not meet the production speeds required, resulting in cut quality issues on key materials such as 1mm polypropylene, where the blade resistance caused raised edges and poor finishing. Thijno, the designated successor to company founder, set out to conduct a thorough market evaluation across all available suppliers. The goal was clear: find a cutting solution that could deliver the speed and precision needed to expand production capacity and take on more orders.
Kongsberg PCS: A Call to Action
Following tests with multiple brands, Ten Herkel was invited by Kongsberg PCS to visit the Customer Experience Center in Ghent. What they witnessed there was decisive. Materials that had previously been cut at only 30% of machine speed on competing solutions were processed by the Kongsberg C at full speed, with flawless results. Polypropylene, a material central to Ten Herkel's daily print production, came off the table with perfectly smooth edges at 100% cutting speed.
We were genuinely surprised. When we picked up the cut piece and ran our fingers along the edge, it was simply smooth. That is something we had not seen before in this market.
The speed, stability and robustness of the Kongsberg C stood out at every stage of the evaluation, from the first trade show impression to the final demonstration in Ghent.
The End Result
Ten Herkel invested in the Kongsberg C, driven primarily by the machine's ability to unlock production capacity that had not been available to them before. By running faster through the same jobs, the team is now able to create room on the production floor to accept more orders and continue expanding into the signage market. The result is a machine the team at Ten Herkel is proud to show off.
