From hard-to-cut materials to many more possibilities
The challenge
A material that was hard to cut properly
Volta Belting makes conveyor belts, particularly for the food industry, from a homogeneous polyurethane material. The material needs to be cut and welded together, with a lot of steps involved to go from the flat source material to a conveyor belt.
Volta Belting tested its material at other vendors, but there were always some issues. Their material was hard to cut properly and the thickness turned out to be a problem as well.
The solution
Positive test results with the Kongsberg cutting table
Volta Belting started talking to Kongsberg and conducted a lot of tests. The results were so positive that they chose to invest in a Kongsberg solution. The cutting table was the only one that could handle their material.
They use the table to cut cleats and perforations for custom conveyor belts. They also use it to cut custom applications such as funnels and other shapes made from conveyor belt material.
The result
An enormously expanded portfolio
The Kongsberg cutting table has enabled Volta Belting to make products they couldn’t produce before. This increases their ability to deliver the perfect solution for their customers.
Because of the very special applications they are able to do, they have expanded their portfolio enormously. A quick calculation showed they made their return on investment.
For applications like perforations that take a lot of time, they let the cutting table run at night. When they come back the next morning, the job is done.
