Kongsberg C20 drives creativity and production
Constant and consistent production capacity with reliability
Discover how the Kongsberg C20 helps ADM deliver more, faster, while creating complex designs and very fine cuts for customers in the Paris luxury market. The Feeder & Stacker keeps the Ultimate supplied and clears finished work without an operator standing at the table. That is what makes the line independent enough to keep running after the shift ends.
The story
From traditional die cutting to faster, more creative production
The challenge
Delivering more, faster
ADM’s customers were asking the company to deliver faster and faster. The company needed to improve throughput, boost productivity and respond quickly to customer requests for everything from standard documents to very complex items.
Traditional production with a cutting die and conventional nesting also required between 50 and 100 sheets. Producing the cutting die took additional time and created costs, particularly for small batches.
The solution
The Kongsberg C20 for prototyping and production
A long-standing Kongsberg PCS customer with two existing Kongsberg machines at its Paris facility, ADM invested in the Kongsberg C20. The table is suitable for prototyping and production and can run from morning until evening without any problems.
The C20 is equipped with a knife that enables ADM to cut at different angles, including passe-partouts and invitation cards with sides ranging from 0 to 60 degrees. The PressCut tool also enables kiss-cutting of stickers for presentations.
The cutting and creasing capabilities enable ADM to produce complex designs with very fine cutting, including paper lace cutting, complex assemblies, collages and flowers for shop window displays. Unlike laser cutting, the Kongsberg table does not burn the paper or leave an unacceptable burning smell on products such as fragrance test strips.
The result
Greater creativity and increased productivity
ADM can offer complex and detailed cutting for very small, medium and large batches, including jobs that run for an entire week. The technology brings the company a greater variety of jobs because ADM can respond quickly to customers without first manufacturing a cutting die.
Where traditional die cutting and nesting require between 50 and 100 sheets, ADM needs only three or four sheets with the Kongsberg. Nesting on the table can take less than five minutes, saving time, money and paper.
“Thanks to the Kongsberg tables we don't need die shapes anymore, which saves us time and money we otherwise need for nesting.”
