Meet the Team: Dirk Vanden Meersschaut

Dirk started his journey with Esko/Kongsberg PCS 20 years ago, where he moved from the Support department to Digital Marketing to finally lead the Marketing department. As the VP Marketing he likes to put his focus on growing people, the team and the business. Learn more about him through his answers to these 10 questions.

1. What is your role at Kongsberg PCS?

As VP Marketing, I oversee the global Marketing activities, from lead to revenue, for Kongsberg PCS. Apart from that, I am also leading the E-commerce department.

2. What does a typical day look like for you?
I am in a lot of meetings where short, mid and long term decisions are taken on a daily basis. I also like to stay close to the Marketing team and to know where we are. I’m keeping track via dashboards where I can see the status of the business every minute of the day.

3. What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
The coaching, learning and growing aspects.

4. What has been your favorite project at Kongsberg PCS?
In 2021, the Kongsberg PCS Marketing team launched a complete new company without support of any outside agency (apart from our PR agency). When people stop by our booths asking us detailed questions about our exceptional branding, it makes me proud.

5. If you could switch your job with anyone else within Kongsberg PCS, whose job would you want?
I don’t think I would like to do another job, really. But if I would need to choose, I would certainly go for a customer support job. I like solving problems and I like to help people...

6. How did you get started in the business?
I started my career in the graphic arts industry as prepress manager, took a large detour via advertising and digital service agencies to start and later lead Digital Marketing for Esko and now Marketing with Kongsberg PCS.

7. How would you describe the company culture at Kongsberg PCS?
Open, no-nonsense and go-for-it mentality.

8. What would be your dream job?
I’ve always wanted to be a rock star or a writer. And in a sense that also came true since I am playing in a band and writing novels. See next question 😉

9. Outside of work, what’s your passion?
See question 8. My band is called The Remakes and we play rock covers in a different way (www.theremakes.be). As a writer, my pseudonym is Marcel Renaat and I wrote 2 crime novels in Dutch. Currently, I’m working on the third one (www.boekengilde.nl/boekenshop/bedrogen). I’m also into motorcycling!
