Check out this great new design created by Kongsberg PCS Application Specialist, Filip Van Bruaene, using the latest Foamalux from Brett Martin.
Watch the ‘roar-some’ video now, and see for yourself how the combination of creativity, technology and outstanding material delivered this beautiful design!
“Each and every cut was made using engraving and milling bits on the Kongsberg C table,” said Filip. “The cut is so precise and as you can see from the video, you can be very creative with it! I really enjoyed using this material.”
Suitable for a wide range of printing and design applications, Foamalux Xtra’s bright white formulation, greater stiffness and surface properties make it a premium choice foam PVC sheet. “The finely balanced blend of pigments combined with its smooth, flat and flawless surface provides a consistent, clean and crisp printing surface, resulting in photographic print clarity,” added Filip. “Its mechanical properties make it an excellent choice for cutting, routing and finishing processes.”
As well as delivering excellent fabrication capability for 3D displays, the bright white color formulation is supplied as a flat rigid sheet with greater stiffness. “This delivers excellent color reproduction, outstanding print quality and a consistent, silky smooth matte surface,” said Filip. “Not only is it suitable for indoor or short-term outdoor use, but importantly at a time when display manufacturers are seeking to find the balance between creativity and sustainability, the board is also 100% recyclable.”
Gillian Fraser, Brand Manager at Brett Martin, said the Kongsberg engraving bits result in a very clean, precise edge that creates a dramatic contrast between the black core and the white virgin foam PVC surface. “Working with our approved partner Kongsberg PCS allows us to showcase the quality and potential of Foamalux Xtra,” said Gillian. “The milling bits give a smooth, clean-cut edge for the finished product. The capabilities of their cutting and routing equipment allows for a detailed and accurate pattern to be engraved, exposing Foamalux Xtra’s black core, which is made from reclaimed post-production waste.
“Overall, the Kongsberg machinery allows detailed patterns to be engraved with good precision, showcasing both substrate and equipment.”
The flagship Kongsberg C Series combines a steel tabletop with aluminum honeycomb core, a rack and pinion drive system and dynamic table mapping to deliver power, precision and performance. “A maximum speed of 100 m/min (66 in/sec) and acceleration up to 1.7 G, combined with quick and precise tool movements, makes high quality digital production possible, even under the tightest deadlines,” said Filip Van Bruaene.
“Its versatility is matched by the range of innovative Kongsberg tooling we used in this project, while automation leads to new freedoms in design and creativity. The combination of this Kongsberg machine and the Foamalux board delivers truly outstanding results.”
